“Parliamone NewGen+”: ACAR Aps' new psychological support project for young adults with multiple osteochondromas and enchondromatosis

Dealing with a rare disease does not only mean managing a complex physical condition: it also means supporting an equally challenging emotional and relational journey. This is why ACAR has developed “Parliamone NewGen+", a psychological support project dedicated to young adults with multiple osteochondromas and enchondromatosis.

A journey designed for the New Generation+

Young people living with these conditions face challenges that affect their relationships, self-perception, and treatment choices. “Let's Talk About It NewGen+” was created to offer a safe space, guided by a psychotherapist, in which peer sharing is valued.

Project objectives

The program is designed to:

  • promote greater self-awareness and awareness of one's own history;
  • support the processing of emotions related to the clinical condition;
  • strengthen personal confidence and sense of self-efficacy;
  • enhance interpersonal skills;
  • promote a more active role in care decisions and daily life.

The group aspect is central: sharing similar experiences helps people feel understood, less alone, and stronger.

Support from the Fondazione Donald De Sanctis

The project is made possible thanks to the support of the Fondazione Donald De Sanctis, which has always been committed to supporting educational, scientific, and support initiatives dedicated to the younger generation.
Its contribution helps to promote an initiative that responds to a real and often overlooked need: the psychological well-being of young people with rare diseases.
